ISTANBUL, July 1 ( SANA) Health Minister, Musab al-Ali, discussed Wednesday with Hans Kluge, the World Health Organization’s Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, ways to support Syria’s health sector and strengthen its preparedness.
The meeting comes on the sidelines of the Conference on Protecting Health in Earthquakes in Istanbul.

According to a statement posted by the Ministry of Health on its Telegram channel, the meeting reviewed the country’s most pressing health needs and discussed the progress the ministry has made in recent months despite the challenges facing Syria’s healthcare system.
Al-Ali outlined the ministry’s future strategy to improve the preparedness of the national health system, expand its capacity, and strengthen emergency response capabilities. The two sides also discussed mechanisms for supporting the plan in cooperation with the WHO to help improve healthcare services provided to citizens.
On June 6, al-Ali also met with delegations from the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, to discuss enhancing cooperation and addressing health challenges and disease outbreaks.
