Higher Education: Lifting Sanctions on Syria is a New Phase of Construction and Recovery

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Marwan al-Halabi, affirmed that the decision to lift the unjust sanctions on Syria is a victory for national resilience and a beginning for a new phase of comprehensive construction and recovery.

“We highly value the tireless diplomatic efforts made by the Syrian state under the leadership of President Ahmad al-Sharaa, and the pivotal role played by Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani, and we extend our thanks to our brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, who played an active role in making this historic decision, and to everyone who contributed to restoring Syria to its natural position on the international stage.” Minister al-Halabi said in a statement to SANA reporter.

Minister al-Halabi considered that lifting the sanctions represents a real glimmer of hope for the Syrian people, who have withstood many years in the face of economic and humanitarian pressures that have affected various aspects of life, including the higher education sector, he added: “Today, we are entering a new phase with all the challenges and ambitions, relying on the will and determination of the people.”
