Education Ministry, UNICEF hold training course on psychological support skills for children in schools

Damascus, SANA – with the aim of enhancing children’s mental health in schools, the Ministry of Education, in cooperation with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), organized a training course to equip mentors with the skills necessary to provide psychological support to children through creative activities such as drawing, music, and sports.

The course focuses on a set of skills and knowledge necessary to help trainers provide psychological support to children, UNICEF Education Officer Yamen Mustafa said in a statement to SANA reporter
He also pointed to the role of music, drawing, and sports in the recovery process from the trauma experienced by Syrian children.

Mustafa explained that the course will last four days, during which two days will be dedicated to training participants on the necessary skills, and another two days to acquiring digital skills.
Participants will gain knowledge about distance learning platforms and how to use them, as well as learn about artificial intelligence applications and how to employ them in education and training within the Ministry of Education.

According to Mustafa, the course is an important step in enhancing the capabilities of trainers and enabling them to provide effective support to children.
