Education ministry,UNESCO discuss joint cooperation

Damascus, SANA-Director of Planning and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Education Yousef Annan discussed with representatives of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) ways to enhance joint cooperation to advance the educational process in Syria.

Education ministry,UNESCO discuss joint cooperationDuring the meeting, Annan reviewed the needs of the Ministry of Education, which include several axes, including securing, qualifying and training educational cadres, addressing the shortage in a number of governorates and regions, and returning students who dropped out of the educational process to their schools.

Annan indicated that the number of students in schools and institutes affiliated with the ministry is about 4 million students, and they need to secure books and public facilities that suit them, and psychological support programs, and some school buildings damaged by the bombing of the defunct regime need partial or complete restoration, in addition to the need to build new schools.

For her part, Director of the Education Programme of the UNESCO Regional Office in Beirut, Maysoun Shehab,, said the organization’s readiness to fully cooperate with the ministry to implement its strategy to advance the educational process in the best possible way, in all fields.
