Education minister, IRC discuss support for Syria’s education sector
The International Rescue Committee and Syrian Minister Turko are conversing about ways to assist the education sector.

Damascus, April 1 (SANA) Syria’s Education Minister Abdul Rahman Turko met with International Rescue Committee (IRC) President and CEO David Miliband in Damascus on Wednesday to discuss ways to support and develop the education sector.

The talks focused on strengthening cooperation and expanding partnerships in line with the ministry’s priorities for improving education services, according to the Ministry.

Both sides discussed efforts to support equitable access to education, with a focus on early childhood learning, as well as addressing learning loss, particularly among students returning from neighboring countries, to facilitate their reintegration into schools.

They also stressed the importance of engaging parents and caregivers as a key component in supporting the education process and creating a more stable learning environment.

The IRC, a non-governmental organization specializing in humanitarian aid and development, has operated in Syria since 2012, where it previously faced challenges working in several areas due to restrictions imposed by the deposed regime.
