Damascus, Feb.13 (SANA) Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Marwan al-Halabi, discussed Thursday with Francesca Sawalha, Director of the Regional Office of International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX) in Jordan, ways to enhance cooperation and assess the needs of the higher education sector in Syria. This includes linking Syrian universities with their Jordanian counterpart that have previously collaborated with the organization.
During the meeting, held at the Ministry building in Damascus on Thursday, minister al-Halabi highlighted the interconnection areas of work between the Ministry and IREX, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in linking Syrian and Jordanian universities.

He suggested the possibility of starting with a faculty at a Syrian public university, such as Damascus University, and a similar faculty at a private university, to serve as a model for future cooperation.
For her part, Sawalha indicated that the purpose of the visit was to gain firsthand knowledge of the state of education and media in Syria and to explore potential collaboration on a project between the German Jordanian University and Al-Hussein Technical University in Jordan, aimed at building partnerships with Syrian universities.
