Damascus, Feb.13 (SANA) Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Marwan al-Halabi, discussed Thursday with Francesca Sawalha, Director of the Regional Office of International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX) in Jordan, ways to enhance cooperation and assess the needs of the higher education sector in Syria. He suggested the possibility of starting with a faculty at a Syrian public university, such as Damascus University, and a similar faculty at a private university, to serve as a model for future cooperation.

For her part, Sawalha indicated that the purpose of the visit was to gain firsthand knowledge of the state of education and media in Syria and to explore potential collaboration on a project between the German Jordanian University and Al-Hussein Technical University in Jordan, aimed at building partnerships with Syrian universities.

IREX is an international non-profit organization, established more than 50 years ago, that works as a global partner in the fields of education, development, and leadership, and aims to create sustainable change in societies by supporting individuals and building their capacities in more than 100 countries, with a focus on youth and education.
