The Damascus International Dental Conference and Exhibition has begun at the Visual Arts Theater in the Faculty of Fine Arts, Damascus. The event is held under the patronage of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic.
The conference brings together a number of expatriate Syrian doctors, along with medical professionals from various Arab and international countries. The conference is accompanied by a specialized medical exhibition and scientific workshops held at the Reda Said Conference Hall at the University of Damascus.
Dean Omar Hashmeh highlighted the value of global collaboration at a dental conference featuring experts from multiple countries, including the UK, Germany, Spain, Canada, the US, UAE, and Kuwait. The event serves as a platform for sharing advanced knowledge and engaging dental students.
Dr. Mohammad Hamzeh, Head of the Damascus Dentists Syndicate, called the conference a key step in revitalizing Syria’s scientific scene, highlighting its role as the first major collaboration between Damascus University, the Dentists Syndicate, and Edex, with 2,600 dentists taking part.
Dr. Imad Al-Din Al-Ayoubi, Head of the Scientific Committee, noted that all speakers are either Syrian expatriates or international experts, offering valuable insights. The conference features 35 lectures across 11 dental specialties and 8 hands-on workshops, including sessions on dental implants, TMJ disorders, and periodontal innovations.
Maher Al-Masri, Chairman of Edex and the British Dental Colleges Council, stated that the conference was conceived post-liberation to transfer global expertise to Syria, highlighting its role in showcasing the latest advancements in surgical, technical, and digital dentistry.
The conference aims to present a future vision for dentistry by highlighting key international experiences, including the Turkish experience, and leveraging these experiences in medical tourism, the use of artificial intelligence, and the implementation of modern clinic management systems according to advanced standards. This will contribute to improving the quality of services and developing the health sector in Syria.
