Damascus, SANA- Minister of Finance, Mr. Mohammad Yasser Barnieh, presented a comprehensive and far-reaching reform plan for the country’s public banking sector during a meeting with the general managers of these institutions.
In the meeting, Minister Baranieh discussed the performance of public banks despite the corruption and structural distortions left by the defunct regime. He clarified that the proposed banking reform plan was developed in cooperation with the Central Bank of Syria and other regulatory bodies following a thorough and professional audit and review process.
The Minister emphasized that the reform strategy aims to modernize Syria’s public banks, enhance the quality of their services, strengthen their competitiveness, and reinforce their role in national development.
