CBS Governor: Switzerland’s lifting sanctions on the Central Bank of Syria is a positive development

Damascus, SANA-the Governor of the Central Bank of Syria (CBS), Abdul Qader al-Hasriya, Welcomed Switzerland decision to lift economic sanctions imposed on Syria, considering it a positive step in the process of rebuilding financial and trade relations between the two countries.

In a post on his official Facebook page Dr. Hasriya clarified that ‘’the Central Bank has always had close banking relations in the past with a number of Swiss banks, as it played a pivotal role in managing state reserve investments and supporting commercial and financial exchanges with the Swiss side, in a way that reflects mutual trust and enhances stability economic relations.

Dr. Hasriya expressed his hope that’’ this step would constitute the beginning of a new phase of constructive cooperation, in a way that serves common interests and opens broader horizons for strengthening the national economy’’.
