Jordan allows imports of “specific goods” from Syria

Amman, SANA- Jordan allowed Wednesday the imports of “specific goods” from Syria as the bilateral economic and trade relations are boosting.

Jordanian Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Yarub Qudah issued a decision today “allowing the import of specific goods from Syria” as an exemption of customs ban orders issued in 2019, the Jordanian Roya TV said on its website.

Jordanian exports to Syria increased by 60.366 million dinars, reaching 88.654 million dinars, from the beginning of the year until mid-May, compared to imports of 28.288 million dinars, according to figures from the Jordanian General Customs Department.

On March 23, the Jordanian Ministry of Interior decided to maintain the Nassib Jaber border crossing with Syria operating 24 hours a day to facilitate bilateral trade and accommodate the increasing volume of traffic.

The decision comes Jordanian-Syrian relations are witnessing cooperation on all levels: political, diplomatic, and economic.
