Husariya discusses modernization of monetary policy tools with the French Central Bank

Damascus-SANA-The Governor of the Central Bank of Syria (CBS), Dr. Abdul Qader Husariya, has discussed with the French Central Bank avenues for modernizing monetary policy tools and strengthening the central bank’s independence and its importance for monetary stability, in line with current challenges.

In a post on his Facebook account, Dr. Husariya stated that a fruitful virtual meeting was held Monday with colleagues from the French Central Bank to discuss prospects for cooperation between the two institutions in the fields of monetary policy, capacity building, and the development of competencies in the banking sector.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Syria noted that training and qualification programs were discussed, to be facilitated through cooperation between the Banking Institute in Syria and the International Banking and Finance Institute (IBFI), affiliated with the French Central Bank.

Dr. Husariya indicated that the meeting also addressed opening reciprocal banking accounts between the two central banks. Furthermore, strategies for managing and developing reserves through safe and effective investment tools that contribute to supporting monetary stability were explored.

Husariya confirmed that both sides agreed to hold follow-up meetings to track technical files and systematically activate areas of cooperation in a sustainable manner.

He extended his sincere thanks to the French chargé d’affaires in Damascus, Jean-Baptiste Faivre, for organizing this constructive meeting and for his sincere efforts in strengthening dialogue and cooperation channels between the two institutions.
