Oil Minister: Lifting sanctions on Syria’s energy sector is a positive step to rebuild the national economy

Damascus, SANA-Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources ,Mr. Ghiath Diab ,welcomed the European Union’s decision to lift sanctions on the energy sector in Syria, which came in light of the historical developments witnessed by Syria after the fall of the former regime.

Diab said in a statement to SANA that the European Union’s decision to lift sanctions represents a positive step towards rebuilding the national economy and enhancing stability in Syria, as the energy sector is one of the main pillars that can contribute to the reconstruction of Syria.

The Minister of Oil called on companies that previously worked in the oil sector to return to Syria and contribute to improve this vital sector with their expertise and investments, which will play an important role in achieving development and advancing the oil and gas sector.

He added: we are confident that Syria, with its rich resources and the will of its people, will regain its position in the energy field, overcoming all current difficulties and challenges.
