Damascus, Sept. 20 (SANA) Syria’s Planning and Statistics Authority and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) discussed ways to expand cooperation in strategic planning, statistics and capacity building, the authority said Saturday.
The talks brought together Planning and Statistics Authority Chairman Anas Salim and GIZ Country Director Tanja Lohmann.
Salim highlighted potential areas of cooperation, including performance indicators, modeling and forecasting, social and policy analysis, monitoring the implementation of plans, evaluation and impact measurement.
Lohmann said GIZ would continue its work in Syria through projects agreed with the Syrian side. The projects cover several sectors, including the rule of law and governance, health, education and vocational training, water and infrastructure, agriculture and food security.
The meeting followed talks between directors of the authority and GIZ representatives in Damascus on Sept. 8 on cooperation in planning, statistics and capacity building.
GIZ is a German government-owned organization working in international development, with programs in more than 120 countries.
