Singapore, Sept. 4 (SANA) The number of commodity-carrying vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz fell sharply on Thursday, with just four ships making the transit, according to data from maritime analytics firm Kpler.
The figure was down from nine vessels on Wednesday and well below the 10-day average of about 15, Reuters reported, citing Kpler data.
The four vessels comprised two medium-range tankers, a Kamsarmax vessel and a Handysize vessel.
Kpler cautioned that the tally could be revised because some ships switch off their transponders while navigating the strategic waterway.
The latest figures extend a decline in traffic through the strait. Kpler said nine cargo vessels crossed on Wednesday, down from 11 a day earlier and below the then 10-day average of about 13 vessels.
