Ankara, June 22 (SANA) Erdal Eren, President of the Turkish Contractors Association (TMB), affirmed on Monday that Turkish construction companies are fully prepared to take an active role in rebuilding Syria.
Eren told Anadolu Agency that Syria suffered extensive destruction due to years of war, which broke out when the ousted regime resorted to violence to suppress the Syrian revolution, leaving the country in dire need of massive reconstruction efforts.
He noted that the Syrian government has expressed a clear desire for Turkish firms to participate in the rebuilding process. This direction was conveyed by Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry Nidal al-Shaar during a joint economic forum held in Istanbul approximately two months ago.
Equipped with international experience, Turkish contractors are ready to deploy their expertise. Eren added that Turkish firms continue to diversify their overseas markets amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and conflicts across the Middle East.
Eren emphasized that the global presence of Turkish companies extends beyond business, helping strengthen bonds among nations. “We do not just seek to build bridges between riverbanks; we want to build bridges among hearts, peoples, and countries,” he stated.
Syria is currently intensifying efforts to attract foreign investment and rehabilitate its infrastructure by signing cooperation agreements with regional and international partners and hosting joint economic forums to draw capital and technical expertise for reconstruction projects.
