Damascus, May 3 (SANA) Syria’s tourism sector is increasingly positioning itself as a major engine for stimulating markets and attracting investment, amid ongoing economic transformations across the country.
The sector is no longer limited to leisure activities but has evolved into an integrated investment platform supporting economic and social development, particularly with the launch of new tourism projects during the current month.
The Ministry of Tourism has recently introduced dozens of projects, including new investments and the rehabilitation of previously damaged or inactive facilities across several provinces. Among the key initiatives are projects such as “Qasioun Journey” in Damascus and “The Beaumont,” alongside the offering of new investment sites in and around the capital.
These projects contribute to revitalizing targeted areas, activating hundreds of professions linked directly and indirectly to the sector, and creating thousands of job opportunities, while enhancing confidence in the investment environment and stimulating local markets.
Deputy Minister of Tourism for Development and Investment Affairs, Ghiath al-Farrah, said that launching new projects and rehabilitating existing facilities increases the sector’s attractiveness and opens the door to new capital inflows in hospitality and services.
He added that tourism spending on accommodation, restaurants, transportation, and shopping directly boosts local markets and extends demand to agriculture, small industries, and traditional crafts, thereby expanding economic activity and supporting domestic production.
Tourism has thus become a broad economic and investment space interconnected with various productive and service sectors, contributing to market revitalization, investment attraction, and job creation, making it a key pillar in supporting Syria’s economic development path.
