Ankara, March 25 (SANA) Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar warned Wednesday of the potential impact of a US-Israeli-Iranian war on the global economy and said Türkiye faces no risks to its energy security.
According to Anadolu Agency, Bayraktar said the geopolitical crisis in the Middle East is escalating and could negatively affect the global economy.
He noted that Türkiye’s reliance on energy supplies passing through the Strait of Hormuz does not exceed 10%, which he described as “manageable.”
The minister said the world is facing a serious crisis with global repercussions, following previous crises including the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war, which disrupted supply chains and drove up energy and commodity prices and inflation.
He added that the current crisis is more severe than previous ones and warned that a prolonged conflict could have major effects on the global economy, particularly on countries dependent on external energy sources.
Bayraktar said Türkiye remains in a relatively stable position due to diversified energy sources and advanced infrastructure, and expressed hope for a swift end to the war and the restoration of stability in the region.
These remarks come amid a near-complete halt in the movement of about 20% of global oil and liquefied natural gas supplies through the Strait of Hormuz, contributing to rising oil prices in international markets.
