Minister Haykal: Syria ,UAE share mutual interest in boosting telecoms cooperation

Dubai, Feb. 5 (SANA) Syrian Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Abdul Salam Haykal, affirmed on Wednesday the importance of boosting international cooperation with the UAE, particularly in the field of digital transformation.

Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of the World Government Summit 2026 in Dubai, Haykal highlighted the UAE’s position as a regional and global leader in internet and telecommunications infrastructure. He pointed out that the UAE’s experience in digital transformation of government services and customer applications represents an advanced model that Syria can build upon and benefit from.

Haykal stressed that the Syrian government attaches special importance to digital transformation and seeks to advance it through effective strategic partnerships. He noted that Syria and the UAE have held several fruitful meetings in recent months to discuss future partnership opportunities and mechanisms for developing the sector in line with sustainable development goals.

He added that the UAE has a highly advanced telecommunications system, supported by leading regional companies with a global presence. This, he said, provides wide opportunities to benefit from the UAE’s advanced experiences and to strengthen frameworks of joint cooperation, thereby accelerating digital transformation and improving government services offered to citizens.
