Raqqa, Jan. 17 (SANA) The Syrian Petroleum Company (SPC) announced Saturday that it has officially taken over the Rusafa and Safyan oil fields in Raqqa province from Syrian Arab Army units, following the army’s recent advances into Deir Hafer and Maskanah. The move is part of plans to restore the fields to operation.
SPC said the takeover reflects national efforts to secure and rehabilitate oil facilities and strengthen the country’s energy sector.
Earlier, the Syrian Arab Army announced it has controlled over the Safyan oil field, the Rusafa junction, and the Thawra field near Tabqah, as well as dozens of surrounding villages in western Raqqa.
