Saudi Arabia, Qatar provide $89 million in support for Syria’s public sector workers

New York – SANA

Saudi Arabia and Qatar have signed a joint financial contribution totaling $89 million to support Syria’s public sector workers for a period of three months.

The initiative aims to ensure the continued delivery of essential services to the Syrian people and strengthen budgetary allocations.

The Saudi-Qatari initiative was signed at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) headquarters in New York.

The signing took place in the presence of Syria’s minister of social affairs and labor, Hind Kabawat, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

Sultan bin Abdulrahman al-Marshad, CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development, stated that the grant provided by the fund is part of the Kingdom’s efforts to enhance development in Syria.

Director General of the Qatar Fund for Development Fahad bin Hamad al-Sulaiti said that the initiative “reflects the shared vision to promote stability and resilience” among the Syrian people and to lay the foundations for peace and prosperity.

Abdallah al-Dardari, Director of the Regional Bureau for Arab States at UNDP, noted that this trilateral cooperation aims to support recovery and socio-economic stability in Syria.
