Tartous, SANA – The Baniyas Refinery received a set of specialized equipment as part of a strategic modernization project, considered the most important since its establishment in 1974.

In a statement to SANA, the refinery’s general manager, Ibrahim Muslim, stated that the new equipment will replace the four reactor bodies of the upgrading unit, along with the furnace coils, with a unified structure that will integrate all four reactors. This renovation also includes internal fittings and components for the steam generators.

Muslim pointed out that the imported equipment, taken together, constitutes a highly important strategic project, given the possibility that the current equipment could be out of service at any moment, noting that replacement components have been prepared for replacement during the refinery’s comprehensive overhaul next year.

Adnan Hamza, the company’s technical affairs director, confirmed that this work is taking place for the first time at the Baniyas Refinery Company and is crucial to its continued operations and readiness to supply the local market with petroleum products.
