Minister of Economy: Syria is prepared to welcome foreign investment

The Minister of Economy and Industry, Dr. Mohammad Nidal al-Shaar, affirmed that Syria’s investment atmosphere has become ready to receive both domestic and foreign investments, thanks to the new investment law, which matches the laws in place in developed countries

During a joint press conference with the spokesperson for the visiting Saudi economic delegation, minister al-Shaar said that the new law provides an attractive and stimulating legal environment that facilitates the entry of capital.

The minister pointed out that the law constitutes a key tool for supporting the investment process and enhancing the role of the private sector in reconstruction and economic development.

For his part, the spokesperson for the Saudi delegation, Mohammed al-Salman, said that the delegation’s visit came at the request of major Saudi companies to explore available investment opportunities in Syria, stressing that these opportunities are “diverse and very attractive.”

Al-Salman indicated that the volume of investments Saudi companies intend to implement in Syria will be on par with their investments abroad.

“Today, we have taken our first steps toward investing in Syria. There is no doubt that future projects are under preparation, and advanced stages have been reached in a number of them, which will be announced soon,” Al-Salman said.
