Syrian-Saudi Cooperation Agreement to Develop Cement Industry in Syria

Damascus, SANA-Engineer Mahmoud Fadhila, Director General of the General Company for Cement and Building Materials Manufacturing and Marketing (Al-Omran), revealed details of the joint cooperation agreement signed by the company with the Saudi Northern Group for Cement Manufacturing during the Syrian-Saudi Investment Forum held in Damascus on Thursday, July 24.

Engineer Fadhila clarified in a statement that the agreement aims to raise the technical efficiency of Syrian cadres working in the cement industry, and to enhance technical cooperation mechanisms and transfer expertise.

The agreement also includes the development of a comprehensive equipment repair mechanism and support for Al Omran Company with a maintenance file, in addition to supervising the production of types of cement not available locally.

Syrian-Saudi Cooperation Agreement to Develop Cement Industry in Syria

It is noteworthy that Saudi Minister of Investment Khalid Al-Falih announced during the Syrian-Saudi Investment Forum the establishment of more than three cement factories in Syria, with investments exceeding 11 billion Saudi riyals.

On July 23, Minister of Economy and Industry Dr. Mohammad Nidal Al-Shaar and the Saudi Minister of Investment launched the Fayhaa Cement Factory project. In the industrial city of Adra in the Damascus countryside, as the first white cement manufacturing project in Syria.
