Damascus, SANA- Damascus Film Salon will host on Thursday French-Greek director Costa Gavras, a prominent figure in political cinema and winner of numerous international awards, including an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film for his renowned movie “Z”.

“Cinema and Politics” Event

Alongside the visit of 92-year-old Gavras, a “Cinema and Politics” event will be held in collaboration with the French organization Ecrans de la Paix (Screens of Peace), which supports refugees and displaced persons affected by wars and conflicts. The event will feature screenings of three of Gavras’s films over three days:

Each screening will be followed by discussion sessions with Gavras about the unique aspects of his cinematic style.
