Hama, Oct. 8 (SANA) The first Masyaf Heritage Festival opened Wednesday in Hama countryside, bringing together poetry, traditional singing, folk dances and community activities to showcase the cultural heritage and traditions of the area.
Held at al-Waraqa Tourist Park in Masyaf under the patronage of the Masyaf District Administration and Masyafiya platform, the festival drew official and community participation and featured traditional performances alongside a Civil Defense presentation.
Preserving local heritage
Masyaf District Director Nour al-Din al-Aboud said the festival provides a platform to showcase the area’s heritage, customs, traditions and cultural practices, including expressive dances, dabke and folk chants.
Lynn Ibrahim, an attendee, praised the variety and organization of the activities and the interaction of visitors. She expressed hope that the festival would be held annually and that cultural and artistic events would continue regularly.
Civil Defense presentation
Hatem Sabih, director of the Emergency and Disaster Management Center in Masyaf, told SANA that the center presented a video showing Civil Defense teams responding to the earthquake disaster, shelling incidents and operations to recover injured people.
The presentation aimed to familiarize residents with the work of Civil Defense personnel and highlight their readiness to serve citizens, Sabih said.
A security and safety team was also present at the festival to respond to emergencies, he added.
Masyafiya is a platform concerned with social, service, cultural, artistic and scientific affairs in the area.
