Deir Ezzor, Aug. 25 (SANA) The National Museum in Deir Ezzor opened the province’s first heritage exhibition on Monday, under the patronage of the Directorate of Culture and supervision of the Intangible Heritage Department, with the aim of reviving local heritage and highlighting the historical identity of the capital of the Euphrates.
The exhibition recreates traditional life through a Bedouin tent and its furnishings, Arabic coffee-making tools, women’s handicrafts and folk singing performances reflecting the heritage of the Euphrates region.
Saher al-Fadel, deputy director of culture in Deir Ezzor, told SANA that the exhibition is the first step in a broader project to document and preserve the province’s rich heritage and pass it on to future generations.
Irfan al-Salama, head of the Intangible Heritage Department, said the exhibition is the first of its kind in the province since liberation, adding that the Directorate of Culture is seeking to turn it into an annual event with broader public participation.
Ghassan al-Sheikh al-Khafaji, a researcher in Deir Ezzor’s history and heritage, said the exhibition connects the past with the present by highlighting traditional life and documenting the region’s social transformation from Bedouin life to urban settlement, helping younger generations learn about their roots.
The exhibition is part of the Ministry of Culture’s efforts to protect tangible and intangible heritage, document folk traditions, support traditional crafts and strengthen the role of museums and cultural centers in preserving national identity.
