Damascus, Feb. 11 (SANA) An art exhibition and dialogue conference promoting civil peace opened Tuesday at Damascus University, bringing together students, academics and civil society representatives, organizers said.
The two-day initiative, titled “Pulse of the Nation: Civil Peace Charter,” was launched by the For a Nation civil society organization in cooperation with the university’s Faculty of Fine Arts. The event is being held at the National Center for Visual Arts.
The exhibition features around 100 artworks created by more than 120 students under the supervision of 10 faculty members. Organizers said the works reflect students’ perspectives on civil peace, coexistence and social cohesion through various visual art forms.
A parallel conference gathered representatives from government ministries, professional unions and cultural and literary organizations to discuss justice, dialogue and the role of cultural initiatives in supporting social stability.
Fouad Dahdouh, dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and director of the National Center for Visual Arts, said the initiative highlights the importance of promoting civil peace at the current stage. He added that the students’ work reflects a growing engagement with social themes.
Majed Al-Ahmad, chairman of the organization’s board, said reconstruction efforts require collective participation and dialogue among Syrians from different backgrounds. Other speakers described the event as an opportunity to encourage cooperation and mutual understanding.
Abdul Aziz Tammo, head of the Kurdish Independents Association, said civil peace depends on justice and consensus and requires a commitment to rejecting hatred and embracing diversity.
For a Nation is an independent civil society organization operating across Syria. Its activities focus on promoting coexistence and social cohesion and implementing humanitarian and educational projects in cooperation with academic and cultural institutions.
