Damascus, Feb. 3 (SANA) The Gardenia Choir marked a decade since its founding with a concert at the Damascus Opera House on Monday, performing a selection of works that trace its artistic journey since 2016.
The concert, titled “We Will Keep Singing,” was conducted by Safana Baqleh and drew a large audience, reflecting the choir’s prominence in Syria’s cultural scene.
Ghada Harb, the choir’s founder and former conductor, told SANA that the group was established to deliver an artistic message rooted in Syrian identity. She said she travelled from Canada to attend the anniversary performance and see the choir after ten years of work.
The program included early pieces from the choir’s repertoire as well as arrangements of cartoon theme songs popular across generations, which organizers said were intended to connect with collective memory and broaden audience engagement.
The choir also performed selections from Syrian musical heritage, alongside works inspired by Palestinian folklore and contemporary compositions, highlighting its focus on preserving and reinterpreting regional cultural traditions. Founded in 2016 by a group of women, Gardenia Choir describes itself as a cultural initiative that promotes artistic expression and social values through choral music
