Homs, Dec. 14 (SANA) Authorities in Homs Province have intensified efforts to combat illegal excavations at the ancient site of Palmyra, the Directorate-General of Antiquities and Museums reported.
The campaign, carried out with local security forces and the Palmyra City Council, aims to protect sensitive areas such as the Valley of the Tombs and the Southeastern Necropolis.
The directorate urged the community to report suspicious activity, emphasizing that safeguarding Palmyra’s heritage is a collective responsibility.
These burial sites provide valuable insights into the social and religious life of ancient Palmyra, highlighting the city’s role as a crossroads of trade and culture.
