Students from the Higher Institute of Music in Damascus concluded a workshop led by American double bass player Richard Hartshorn with a chamber music performance at the Drama Theatre of the Damascus Opera House.

The concert, which featured works from major Romantic composers in Czech and Russian traditions, opened with Alexander Borodin’s string quartet, followed by Anton Arensky’s trio written in memory of cellist Karl Davidoff. The performance ended with a piece by Czech composer Antonín Dvořák, inspired by the chrysanthemum flower in Bohemian culture, symbolizing purity and life.
The students showcased impressive skill and unity as they performed in various ensembles, including trios, quartets, and quintets.
