Syria, Russia to enhance cooperation in treatment of cancer

Damascus, SANA-Health Minister Nizar Yazigi discussed on Tuesday with Director-General of National Medical Research Radiological Center at the Russian Health ministry, Professor Andrey Kaprin and accompanying delegation cooperation to improve the work of hospitals and medical centers which provide treatment to people who suffer from cancer.

The Minister said the that Health Ministry provides free treatment for patients who suffer from cancer through an number of hospitals and specialized centers, adding that these hospitals have been facing difficulties in importing the medicines and the necessary medical devices due to the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on Syria.

Russian medical delegation visits Hospital of Beirouni in Damascus

In this regard, the Russian delegation discussed  with the administration staff of University Hospital of Beirouni in Damascus means of improving the work in the hospital and providing the necessary support to medical staff and medicine to the diseased.

Professor Andrey Kaprin, said in a press statement that the visit aims at inspecting the medical condition and the method of work in the hospital in order to offer help to the sick people and the medical staff in this scientific center.

He noted that the Russian leadership and people asked the delegation to support the Syrian government and people, pointing out that the delegation will present a report to Russian Health Minister about the medical situation in Syria with a plan to improve it.

Dr. Kaprin added that the delegation will visit other hospitals and medical centers.

Director General of the University Hospitalpf Beirouni , Dr. Ehab al-Nouqari said that 600 to 800 patients with cancer visit the hospital per day, adding that the hospital offers them all medical treatments and required doses, stressing that the hospital didn’t stop work even in the difficult circumstances.
