New York, SANA – Syrian expatriate Ibrahim Ahmad, who resides in the American state of Ohio, raised the Syrian flag in one of the farthest accessible points of Antarctica following a long and arduous journey.
Ahmad joined an expedition that departed from Punto Arenas in Chile and headed to Antarctica, accompanied by explorers from China, Britain, Japan, Switzerland, and France, and braved snowstorms and gale winds throughout the long journey in which the explorers used ships and rubber rafts until they reached their destination, at which point Ahmad raised the Syrian flag.
Ahmad is the first Syria to ever set foot in Antarctica.
