Damascus, SANA – The People’s Assembly discussed during Tuesday session, chaired by Speaker Hadiyeh Abbas, the performance of the Industry Ministry and means to activate the role of public and private industrial sectors.
A number of MPs addressed inquiries to Minister Ahmad al-Hamu, demanding more efforts towards developing industrial zones and establishing new factories concerned with the pharmaceutical, medical, textile and water sectors, in addition to highlighting the need of rehabilitating damaged factories and facilities in the areas to which the Syrian Arab Army restored security and stability.
Responding to the inquiries, Minister al-Hamu said the Ministry’s strategy focuses on investing in local resources and enhancing participatory work between the public and private sectors to rehabilitate the companies that need significant financial costs and technical expertise with maintaining state ownership and workers’ rights.
He added that the Ministry is working on providing support to profitable companies through securing their needs of work and production requirements, noting that the Ministry of Industry has signed a number of agreements with several other ministries for cooperating in marketing industrial products and supplying production equipment and raw materials.
