Premier Khamis stresses importance of upgrading professional and administrative work

Damascus, SANA-A governmental delegation, headed by Prime Minister Imad Khamis inspected work mechanisms at al-Wahda Foundation for Press, Printing and Publishing and the Public Authority for Radio and Television, affirming the importance of upgrading professional and administrative work.

During the tour, Khamis listened to the challenges and difficulties facing work and the suffering of workers in addition to the proposals and visions to raise the performance level of media institutions.

Premier Khamis pointed out to the important role played by media in the formation of public opinion and identify policies and trends, hailing the role of the national media and the sacrifices made by the media figures during terrorist war agaisnt Syria.

During a meeting with a number of media staffs following the tour, Khamis stressed on the necessity to improve the performance of the national media to be the real supporter for the Syrian Arab Army in combating terrorism faced by Syria, calling for reducing waste and unemployment.

For his part, Information Minister Mohammad Ramez Tourjman asserted on developing work in media institutions to be more influential and more able to highlight citizens’ concerns and strengthen the bonds of national unity in the community, stressing on offering the required support for media institutions to fulfill their work and their responsibility towards society, particularly during the current crisis.

In turn, Culture Minister Mohammad al-Ahmad pointed out to the integration and overlapping between the work of Information and Culture ministries in terms of unifying the media message in order to deepen belonging to the land.

For his part, Finance Minister Ma’moun Hamdan underlined the need to enhance the role of media establishments in spreading awareness among citizens, mainly in rationalizing consumption and reducing waste.

In turn, journalists talked about their needs and the importance of taking care of the families of the martyrs and wounded people who belong to the media sector and taking into account the specificity of the work of journalists through laws and regulations.

They also called for strengthening cooperation between the ministries and media institutions.
