Abdullahian: Cooperation between Syria, Iran and Russia will continue until terrorists are defeated

Tehran, SANA – Iran’s Shura Council Assistant Speaker for international affairs Hussein Amir Abdullahian stressed on Saturday that cooperation between Syria, Iran and Russia in combating terrorism and supporting the Syrian people, army and government conveys a decisive message to the terrorist groups’ supporters that defeating terrorists is an irreversible goal.

Abdullahian clarified during his meeting with Syria’s Ambassador in Tehran Adnan Mahmoud that any political solution to the crisis in Syria will not yield as long as the Takfiri terrorists seek to meet their goals through shedding their skin, highlighting at the same time that Tehran will continue supporting the political solution and the fight against terrorism.

The Iranian official stressed that the US’s stance is the main factor in escalating terrorism in the region, as it has not provided any help towards combating it, but rather it uses terrorism in Syria as a card for the upcoming U.S. presidential elections.

Abdullahian and Ambassador Mahmoud asserted the need for joint work to translate the strategic relations between the two countries and broaden cooperation to cover all spheres including the parliamentary relations as to exert pressure on the terror-backing states and take effective steps in counterterrorism in the region.
