Moscow, SANA-Russian Foreign Ministry affirmed on Thursday the necessity of blocking terrorists’ sources of funding.
In a press conference, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova affirmed that the main task in the framework of the settlement of the crisis in Syria currently lies in the concerted and full implementation of the reached agreements.
Zakharova said that Moscow demands blocking of remaining terrorists’ sources of money, adding that “We have repeatedly told our partners that it is necessary to cut terrorists’ channels not only getting manpower, but arms supplies, mostly via the Turkish-Syrian border.”
“Participants of the cessation of hostilities agreement in Syria should decisively separate themselves, including geographically, from terrorists. This is our position that we have affirmed several times,” she said.
In response to a question by SANA correspondent in Moscow, Zakharova renewed Russia’s support for a political settlement in Syria, describing the west’s rejection of backing Russia’s proposal to include Ahrar al-Cham and Jaish al-Islam in the list of terrorist organizations as unproductive stance that opposes the international agreements on settling the crisis in Syria.
On May 9, Russia and US issued a joint statement in which the two sides called on all states to prevent terrorists in Syria from receiving support.
