Russian General Staff: 29000 terrorists’ sites destroyed by Russian airstrikes in Syria without any civilian casualties

Moscow, SANA- Russian General Staff affirmed on Wednesday that the airstrikes launched by the Russian Air Force on the sites of terrorist organizations in Syria have not caused any civilian casualties.

“During the Russian air operation in Syria not a single strike was made that would cause the destruction of civilian objects or civilian casualties,” Head of the Russian General Staff Main Operations Department Sergey Rudskoy said at the 5th Moscow International Security Conference.

He added that the Russian military have thwarted numerous attempts by the terrorists to provoke strikes on civilian targets, adding that according to the terrorists’ plans, casualties among civilians were to discredit the Russian Aerospace Forces, cause a negative reaction of the international community and force the Russian leadership to stop the fight against terrorist groups in Syria.

Sergei Kuralenko, Head of Hmeimim-based Russian Coordination Center said that Syrian army is using artillery and aviation accurately selectively to avoid civilian casualties and avoid causing damage to residential houses and infrastructure facilities in cities.

The Russian Military Official pointed out that the airstrikes targeted around 29000 sites of terrorists and 200 more than 200 terrorist-controlled oil facilities and over 2,000 vehicles for fuel delivery during the last 7 months.

Rudsoky noted that the Russian airstrikes caused considerable damage to ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusra and blocked the routes of weapons and ammunition, adding that the Russian sappers had dismantled more than 3000 explosive devices which were planted earlier by ISIS in the ancient city of Palmyra before the Syrian Army restored control over it with the support of Russian Air Force.
