Damascus, SANA – Presidential Political and Media Advisor Bouthaina Shaaban said the people in Syria and Palestine are together in the same battle, affirming that the Syrian people take the Palestinian cause as their own cause.
Shaaban, who is the head of the board of trustees of al-Quds Foundation/Syria/, made these remarks at a press conference on the occasion of the Land Day, an event annually marked on March 30 by Palestinians to commemorate the events of that date in 1976 where a general strike and marches broke out in response to the Israeli occupation government’s announcement of a plan to expropriate thousands of land for security and settlement purposes.
“The one and same terrorism that is striking in Palestine, Syria, Iraq and Yemen is targeting our civilization, identity, history and children’s future, and therefore we must have a united stand and one word against it,” She added.
She pointed out that the brutal methods used by the Israeli occupation soldiers to kill the innocent Palestinians are the same methods of terrorists and extremist groups in Syria, stressing the importance of adopting a unified position on this day in order to restore the land and bring the practices of the Israeli enemy into the world’s attention.
She added that the international boycott of Israeli products coming from the Israeli settlements which were built in the occupied Palestinian territories is a real boycott in most European states.
Shaaban noted that Syria has always been and will remain present due to its independent decision, adding that one of the main goals of the war waged against Syria is to confiscate the Syrian decision. “But they have not, and will not be able to do that,” she added, hoping that a popular Arab league which reflects the opinion of the Arab people and their conscience will be established.
Shaaban pointed out that the world today is more aware of our Cause, stressing that liberating Palmyra from terrorism recently has shown the world that the Syrian Arab Army, the Resistance and the allies in Iran and Russia are standing against terrorism in support of the freedom and sovereignty of the nations.
The Advisor considered that the situation today is much better due to the steadfastness of the Syrian army and people, adding that the resistance and all its allies are an essential part of this victory.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the conference, the advisor said that “the victories of the Syrian Arab Army will be a prelude to re-launching the joint Arab action and will draw a great future for this nation and the world.”
Shaaban noted that misleading media channels, especially al-Jazeera and al-Arabiya are still promoting misinformation about what is happening in Syria, but after the terrorist attacks took place in Paris and Brussels, the world began to realize what is happening in Syria.
Answering a question about the visit of Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem to Algeria coinciding with the visit of French Foreign Minister and news about the possibility of a mediation to re-establish the Syrian-French relations or whether it is a prelude to a visit by President Bashar al-Assad to Algeria, Shaaban said: “There is no mediation…The visit came in response to the invitation by the Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramtane Lamamra which reflects the Arab desire to launch a different joint Arab work.
Shaaban affirmed that Syria is determined to go ahead in the political solution with the same resolve that led to recapturing Palmyra city from terrorists, reiterating that the Syrian government has spared no effort for reaching a political solution that preserves its free decision, independence and sovereignty.
In turn, Assistant Secretary General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine- General Command Talal Naji said that Syria is exposed to a global conspiracy due to its stances towards the Palestinian Cause and its support to the Palestinian people and adherence to the rights of the Arab nation.
