Damascus, SANA-Syria’s grand Mufti, Sheikh Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun affirmed on Sunday that Syria has warned Europe of the plague of terrorism and extremism, saying that Syria has been fought because it is a secular state.
“Syria has defended Europe and combated extremism and terrorism on behalf of it,” Mufti Hassoun said at a meeting with a French delegation that includes parliamentarians, intellectuals, researchers and journalists, adding that in parallel with its war against terrorism, Syria works to complete national reconciliations.
He called on regimes in Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey to stop their support to terrorism and put an end for their intervention in Syria’s domestic affairs.
Assistant Patriarch of Antioch and all the East for Rome Orthodox Luka al-Khouri, for his part, affirmed that Syria is the land of amity and tolerance, calling on members of the visiting delegation to convey the real image of events in Syria.
Member of the Parliamentary Committee on the Foreign Affairs at the French National Assembly who heads the delegation Thierry Mariani was satisfied with the restoration of security and stability to Palmyra, saying that terrorists who kill the Syrians are the same who go to Europe and commit explosions there.
