Provinces, SANA – Army and Armed Forces units and popular defense groups clashed with terrorists during the past 24 hours in Sweida, Deir Ezzor, and Homs provinces, which resulted in the death of a number of terrorists and in destroying their weapons and equipment.
Sweida
Popular defense groups thwarted Tuesday night ISIS terrorists’ attempt to infiltrate towards al-Lajat in Kou’ Hadar area in the northern countryside of Sweida province.
A source at Sweida Governorate told SANA that one of the popular defense groups ambushed the group of ISIS terrorists who were coming from al-Badiya (desert) and heading westward to al-Lajat.
One of the terrorists was killed and two others were injured, said the source, adding that the other terrorists fled.
Deir Ezzor
Army units carried out intensive operations during the past 24 hours targeting ISIS terrorists’ fortifications and hideouts around al-Taim field from the directions of al-Tharda Mountain, the Panorama and the Driving School, located to the south of Deir-Ezzor city.
A source on the ground told SANA that scores of terrorists were killed during the operations, in addition to destroying two vehicles equipped with 23 mm machineguns and a stolen oil tanker on al-Taim field road from the side of al-Shoula village.
The source added that terrorists near the field and the Technical Institute for Oil were hemmed in.
An army unit also targeted a gathering og ISIS terrorists near al-Jazeera University in al-Bogheiliyeh area in the western countryside of the province, destroying a car transporting terrorists.
A pickup truck with a machinegun mounted on it was destroyed along with a mortar launcher and five ISIS terrorists were killed in Hweijet Sakar in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, according to the source.
During the past two days, army units engaged in fierce clashes with ISIS terrorist groups that launched attacks in the surroundings of Deir Ezzor Airport and in al-Sinaa neighborhood and al-Maqaber Mountain, killing many of their members, including al-Haj Abdullah, Mohammad al-Fadel and Jihad al-Sajer, while the other terrorists fled.
Another pickup truck equipped with a 23 mm cannon belonging to ISIS terrorists was destroyed in al-Hweiqeh neighborhood in Deir Ezzor with a guided missile fired by an army unit.
Homs
An Army and Armed Forces unit on Wednesday thwarted an attack by ISIS terrorists on a strategic hill to the west of Palmyra (Tadmur) in the eastern countryside of Homs province.
A source on the ground told SANA that an army unit, in cooperation with popular defense groups, was engaged during the past hours in fierce clashes with ISIS-affiliated terrorist groups that had launched an attack on hill 900, a strategic hill and the highest summit in al-Haiyal Mountains with an elevation of 939 meters. The hill located to the west of Palmyra and overlooks it.
The source said clashes foiled the terrorist attack after killing a number of terrorists, injuring others and forcing the rest to flee.
