Tehran, SANA – Mohammad Javad Zarif said that the only way to resolve the crisis in Syria is through dialogue among Syrian sides and self-determination, noting that Iran had always believed that the crisis cannot be resolved militarily
In a joint press conference with Bosnian counterpart Igor Crnadak held on Monday, Zarif said other countries’ responsibility regarding the crisis in Syria is to facilitate inter-Syrian dialogue.
He said that so far, no agreement has been reached regarding the details related to the ceasefire in Syria, adding that Iran supports any step that stops bloodshed and saves lives in Syria, but that this must entail preventing the sending of support and recruits to terrorists during the ceasefire.
Zarif also asserted that ISIS and Nusra must be prevented from hiding behind other armed groups.
In turn, Crnadak said that the political solution is the only way to end the crisis in Syria and restore security and stability in the region, which would help with the refugee crisis as well.
