Higher Institute for Music celebrates its 25th foundation anniversary

Damascus, SANA- The Higher Institute for Music in Damascus celebrated its 25th foundation anniversary with various musical events, including playing on different musical instruments in all parts of the institute and decorating its halls with memorial photos that narrate the history of the students and the professors who have lived as part of the institute since its foundation.

During the event, a documentary was screened and a concert was held as well as a Skype Hall for remote learning was inaugurated.

“Music is very important in all circumstances because it is the nutrition of the spirit,” Culture Minister Issam Khalil said, adding ” the war against Syria is aimed at affecting and harming its culture and historical heritage.”

The minister affirmed the importance for honoring the early founding members in this civilized institute, thanking all national cadres who perform their duties towards their homeland.

In turn, Andre Ma’alouli, Director of the Institute hailed the efforts of the institute’s teachers, students and employees, calling on all citizens who have the will and capability to support the institute.

The Institute witnessed today a direct lesson from Rome in the opera songs through Skype.
