Electricity Minister discusses cooperation with Russian and Belarusian delegations

Damascus, SANA – Minister of Electricity Imad Khamis discussed on Saturday with delegations from Russia and Belarus ways of activating cooperation in the fields of electricity and transferring the necessary technology for manufacturing electrical equipment in Syria.

Minister Khamis briefed the delegations on a long-term work plan until 2030 to meet the electricity sector’s needs for generators, converter stations, power transmission lines and other requirements, in addition to huge investments, worth more than 20 billion Euros.

Alexander Radevich, General Director of Minsk Electrotechnical Plant named after Vasily Kozlov (METZ), which has the largest factory producing transformers in Europe, stressed the company’s readiness to cooperate with the Syrian government to produce the needed transformers in Syria and to help in developing the electricity sector and providing the necessary expertise.

A member of the Russian delegation explained that cooperation with Syria will cover many areas, the most important of which is establishing some industries and a set of laboratories for dealing with quality and testing the natural products to give them one hundred percent pass certificate.
