224 killed in a Russian plane crash in Sinai, Egypt

Cairo, SANA, Russian embassy in Cairo said that all 224 people on board the Russian plane, crashed in Sinai Egypt, were killed.

The plane, with 224 people on board, crashed Saturday in the middle of Sinai peninsula, Egypt.

Russian President Vladimir Putin decreed Sunday a day of mourning all over the country on the victims of the plane crash, Russia Today reported.

Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) said the plane, belongs to “Kogalym avia” company carrying 217 passengers and 7 crew, took off from Sharm El-Sheikh airport Saturday morning and went off radar after 23 minutes of flight.

Earlier on Saturday Egyptian air traffic control said they lost contact with the Russian airliner en route from Sharm el-Sheikh to St. Petersburg.

Egyptian prime minister Sharif Ismail, who cut his visit to Ismailiya city, said the plane crashed near el-Arish in the north of Sinai and formed an operation center for following up the crash incident to identify the reasons.
