Abdullahian: Monitoring Syria’s borders with its neighbors is most needed for combating terrorism

Tehran, SANA- Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister for the Arab and African Affairs Hussein Amir Abdullahian stressed that the most necessary measures towards Syria are monitoring the borders with its neighbors and the real combat of terrorism along with continuing the political process.

Abdullahian, in a statement on the meeting of the Russian, US, Turkish and Saudi foreign ministers in Vienna to discuss the crisis in Syria, said that all must help enhance the political process in Syria, affirming that the Syrians are the ones who decide the fate of their country.

He called upon some parties which have played a negative role in Syria through supporting terrorism to think only of playing a constructive role in Syria.

Abdullahian clarified that Tehran supports the efforts exerted by the UN regarding the crisis in Syria, and it considers the Russian measures positive with regard to combating terrorism in the country and it affirms the necessity of focusing on the political solutions which have a realistic view towards Syria.

Earlier on Wednesday, Abdullahian stressed Iran’s support to Syria in its war against terrorism, affirming his country’s conviction that the armed terrorist groups will never be able to topple the Syrian Government even in the sensitive stages.
