Moscow, SANA – UN Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura welcomed the summit held between President Bashar al-Assad and President Vladimir Putin
Sputnik news agency quoted the spokeswoman for the UN envoy Jesse Shaheen as saying that the UN envoy believes that the political settlement was discussed during the talks between presidents al-Assad and Putin and that we welcomes any effort in this regard.
The UN, she added, has always supported a political settlement in Syria.
Earlier on Tuesday, President al-Assad met with his Russian counterpart in Moscow where a number of issues related to fighting terrorism, the Russian military operations in Syria and means of reaching a political solution to the crisis were addressed.
