Sweida, SANA – Two civilians were killed and several others were injured on Friday as a result of terrorists attacks east of Shaqa town in the northeastern countryside of Sweida province.
A source in the province told SANA’s correspondent that terrorists detonated an explosive device on a side road east of Shaqa town while a tractor was passing by, and then fired two mortar shells at civilians who had gathered at the site of the attack.
The source said that two civilians were killed in the attack and 7 were injured and were hospitalized, adding that the attack also caused material damage to a car and two motorbikes belonging to locals.
Following the attack, army units carried out concentrated strikes aimed at the source of the mortar rounds, destroying several mortar launchers and killing a number of terrorists, while another army unit canvassed the area and dismantled a number of explosive devices planted by terrorists on a side road.
