Anti-measles vaccination campaign reaches over 147,000 children in Hasaka

Hasaka, SANA – Over 147,000 children between the ages of 7 months and five years were vaccinated against measles in the northeastern province of Hasaka.

Those included 10, 213 children under 1 year who were given measles vaccines and 137,000 other children aged between 1 and 5 years, who were given the Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccines, according to the Health Department of Hasaka.

This was carried out in the framework of a national 12-day anti-measles vaccination campaign which ended last Thursday.

The campaign, , which was organized by the Health Ministry in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), targeted about 2,670,937 children all around Syria.

It coincided with a catch-up immunization schedule for children who missed shots during previous vaccination campaigns.

Hasaka Health Department has already carried out this year two rounds of anti-polio vaccination campaign, reaching around 245,000 children in each round.
