Dr. al-Sharaa discusses with UNFPA director means of improving health services

Damascus, SANA- Charge d’ Affairs of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Maher Al-Sharaa, discussed with the Regional Director of the United Nations Population Fund, Laila Bakr, and an accompanying delegation, ways to enhance coordination and cooperation between the two sides in the health field, and improve the situation of health services in Syria.

During a meeting, the two sides discussed a number of health issues, including reproductive health services, children’s health care, vaccination, newborn care, and mental health, in addition to rebuilding the medical staff and enhancing support provided to recovery programs and projects, especially in the health sector, with the need to conduct a population survey.

Dr. Al-Sharaa highlighted the importance of coordination regarding health sector priorities for the next stage and the need to intensify efforts in this regard, stressing the importance of enhancing cooperation and exchanging experiences and information between the two sides. ‏

In turn, the Regional Director of the United Nations Population Fund, Laila Bakr, pointed out the necessity of using partners with successful health experience to rebuild and develop the health system in Syria, expressing her appreciation for the work provided by the Ministry of Health, and expressing all readiness for further coordination and cooperation.
