People’s Assembly: Balfour Declaration established a long period of historical injustice that affected the Palestinian people

Damascus, SANA-People’s Assembly said that the false and ominous Balfour Declaration was far from the lowest factors of humanity and morality and established a long period of historical injustice that affected the Palestinian Arab people, after which the chapters of suffering and tragedies began throughout those years.

“The history is repeating itself as the continuing crimes committed by the Zionist occupation forces with their brutal and barbaric bombing of infrastructure, hospitals and homes with their residents in southern Lebanon and the besieged Gaza Strip clear, scandalous and a blatant violation of all international laws, norms and conventions,” The Assembly said Saturday in a statement on the 107th anniversary of Balfour Declaration.

The Assembly reaffirmed that events in Syria cannot be separated from the Balfour Declaration, and that the brutal attacks that Syria was subjected to from the forces of evil, aggression and terrorism over the past years and the subsequent imposition of unjust economic blockades on the Syrian people came to divert Syria from its constant approach in supporting the just causes of the Arabs, foremost of which is the issue of Palestine and regaining the occupied Syrian Arab Golan.

The Balfour Declaration was a public statement issued by the British Government in 1917 during the First World War announcing its support for the establishment of a Zionist entity in Palestine.

The declaration was included in a letter dated 2 November 1917 from the United Kingdom’s Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour to Lord Rothschild.
